Built a multi-tenant marketplace that digitizes the entire cattle trading lifecycle, from birth registration to final sale, with full lineage and health tracking.
The Problem
The cattle industry relied on paper records, phone calls, and in-person auctions. Lineage tracking was manual and error-prone, making it difficult to verify genetics and health history. Buyers and sellers had no efficient way to connect, and transactions required physical presence. The lack of digital infrastructure limited market access and created information asymmetry.
The Solution
Architected a comprehensive marketplace platform with MongoDB for flexible livestock data modeling. Built a registry system that tracks each animal from birth through ownership transfers, maintaining complete lineage and health records. Implemented real-time inventory management with WebSockets for live bidding and price updates. Created role-based access control for ranchers, buyers, and administrators. Integrated with the payment and NVR systems to provide a complete end-to-end solution.
The Impact
Built a multi-tenant marketplace for cattle trading: a registry tracking each animal's lineage and health, with real-time inventory, so buyers could review history before purchase and sellers could list without traveling to a physical auction. It launched and ran with real listings — on the order of a hundred, many covering 50–150 head each — and modest usage. No verified scale or regulatory-compliance claims.
