Enterprise — Board & Technical Advisory

A Technical Voice in the Boardroom

Senior technical judgment in the room — without a full-time hire. Independent board and advisory-board work, plus technical due diligence for investors and acquirers, pointed at the decisions where getting the technology wrong is the expensive mistake.

Board / Advisory Seat

What I Bring to a Board or Advisory Seat

  • Technical due diligence — read a stack, a team, and a roadmap, and tell the board what’s real, what’s risk, and what it will cost
  • Scaling & architecture judgment — when to split the monolith, when to hire, and the moment tech debt stops being technical and becomes a business problem
  • Edge AI, computer vision, distributed & mobile — where the next products and defensible moats actually are, from someone shipping it now
  • Build-vs-buy & CTO evaluation — including the honest read on whether current technical leadership can scale with the company
  • Straight talk — I won’t soften what’s hard for the board to hear

How This Works, By Situation

One practice, but the terms genuinely differ by who's asking.

Enterprise & Growth-Stage Boards

An independent board or advisory-board seat, technical due diligence ahead of an investment or acquisition, or a standing CTO / technical-leadership evaluation.

Retainer, structured equity (post-seed+, with a defined realization path), or dividend-bearing seats.

Startup Boards

Open to it, but it starts with a conversation, not a self-serve offer. Equity-only only makes sense when the pairing is genuinely strong and the time commitment is realistic on both sides.

Where that alignment isn’t there, the standard fractional CTO engagement — paid — is the better fit than a token board seat.

Nonprofit Boards

Open to nonprofit board and advisory seats where the mission and the work genuinely align.

This operates differently — pro-bono or reduced-fee, not the standard retainer model.

Let's Discuss the Seat

Every board or advisory conversation starts the same way — tell me the situation, and I'll tell you honestly whether it's a fit and what it should look like.
